Hibiscus Margarita

This unexpected Margarita made it onto our Summer Solstice menu because of its bright color and its floral taste. We bought dried hibiscus 🌺 flowers on Amazon and just rehydrated them quickly - almost like making a tea. Which made us think…can we just use a hibiscus tea bag? (Prolon anyone?) Yes! Either way will get you that gorgeous hot pink color!

Makes 1 pretty cocktail

2 ounces tequila
2 ounces fresh-squeezed lime juice
1 ounce Cointreau
2.5 ounces hibiscus tea

Combine all ingredients in a shaker filled with ice. Shake and strain into a glass filled with ice. Garnish with a lime.

To make the tea from a tea bag: place tea in a mug with 8 oz of water and let it steep according to package directions.

To make the tea from dehydrated hibiscus flowers: Bring 3 cups water to a boil. Turn off heat and stir in 1 cup dried hibiscus flowers. Let steep for 30 minutes. Strain the liquid from the flowers. Store in airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
